Royal Wolfe Succumbs

Circulation Managers of Hannibal, Mo., Paper Former Birmingham Resident; Rites Held Sunday.

Royal D. Wolfe, circulation manager of the Hannibal, Mo., Courier-Post and a former Van Buren county resident, died Friday night at the home of his sister, Mrs. Gilbert Prasse, in Keokuk. Mr. Wolfe, who was 64 years old and had been connected with the Courier-Post 34 years, had been ill a year but had continued with his work until June 5.

He was one of the original stockholders of the Courier-Post Publishing company and had served on its board of directors until the time of his death. Prior to going to Hannibal, he was connected with the circulation department of the Davenport Times.

Before entering the newspaper field he taught school at Packwood and at Davenport, having acquitted his education at the Birmingham academy and at Parsons college.

Mr. Wolfe was born in Birmingham in 1879, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Wolfe. He was married in 1909 to Miss Bertha Miller, who died June 16, 1940.

Surviving are a foster-daughter, Mrs. Lee Rigney of Springfield, Ill.; one brother, W.G. Wolf of Bentonsport, and a sister, Mrs. Gilbert Prasse of Keokuk. Another sister, Mrs. Grant Wildman preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church in Davenport. Burial was at Mt. Olivet cemetery beside the grave of his wife.
