Mrs. Jessie F. Davis

Jessie Fremont Davis, daughter of Alexander H. and Elizabeth Woods was born July 24, 1856. She passed away at her home near her birthplace, Jan. 14, 1935 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 20 days.

She was united in marriage with Samuel Patton Davis, in 1878. Mr. Davis died in 1892, leaving in her care six children of tender age.

After the death of Mr. Davis, the mother and children moved to a home on her father's farm where the children grew to manhood and womanhood. It was in this home that she passed to her reward.

She is survived by five children, Cass M., of Delia, Alberta, Canada; Grover C., who resides on the home farm; Earle, of Seattle, Wash.; Zula Payne, of Marked Tree, Ark.; and Lizzie Clark of Chariton, Iowa. One son, Leonard W. who passed away in 1912, and one daughter Flavia Estella who died in infancy, preceded her in death. She is also survived by one sister, Sarah L. Edmondson, of Bonaparte, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

She has been in failing health for a number of years. She was severely scalded with hot water, Dec. 23 and the shock of this accident was more than her frail health would permit and she quietly passed away.

Funeral services were held at the home, Thursday afternoon, the Rev. F.M. James, a former pastor, in charge. Interment was in the Bonaparte cemetery.
