GEORGE A. BOWMAN
George A. Bowman of Mt. Sterling died at 9:50 a.m. Monday at the home of his sister, Mrs. James W. Lapsley, 812 Franklin Street, Keokuk. Since the death of his wife about a year ago, Mr. Bowman had been spending a part of his time in Keokuk.
He was born in Newark, Mo., a son of Dr. H.E. and Mrs. Anne Ellery Bowman. Most of his life was spent in Mt. Sterling. He was well known throughout the county and has many friends who regret to hear of his passing. He was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Lapsley of Keokuk and Mrs. E.E. French of Douglaston, N.Y., and a brother, C.A. Bowman of Keokuk.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Mt. Sterling on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. M.E. Hayes of the Keosauqua M.E. church officiating. Interment was in Harness cemetery.
