Lois A. Garrett, 81, of rural Douds died at 11:50 P.M. Saturday April 12, 2014 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. She was born December 2, 1932 near Eldon to Iver and Gertrude Carlson Reisch and married Donald E. Garrett November 21, 1951 in Eldon. They have lived their married life in rural Selma, Libertyville, and Douds. Lois graduated from Eldon High School, was a farm homemaker and had worked as a telephone operator in Eldon, at Douds Café and Moore’s Grocery in Douds. She was a member of Selma United Methodist where she had served as pianist. She also played the piano at the Selma Jam Sessions and had been a member of Selma Saddle Club and Douds Pythian Sisters and especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Don, Two sons, Dennis Garrett of Batavia and Tony Garrett (Cari) of Floris, a daughter, Diana Swan (Gale) of Libertyville, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a sister, Beverly Finney of Fairfield. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Shirley Taylor and infant sister, Betty Jean Reisch.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday April 17, 2014 in Living Hope Bible Church, Eldon, with Pastor David Albert officiating. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with family present from 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Iowaville Cemetery west of Selma. Memorials to Living Hope Bible Church or Iowaville Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 1425 265th St., Libertyville, IA 52567
