KENNETH WEIHER

William Kenneth Roger, son of Robert and Jessie Saddler Weiher, was born Feb. 7, 1906, and passed away at his home south of Bonaparte Oct. 10, 1932, at the age of 26 years, 8 months and 3 days.

He received his early education in the rural schools, later attending Bonaparte high school.

For several years, with his father and brother he conducted a garage in Bonaparte. After spending a year in California he came back to Iowa and for the past five years has been employed by the Melburg Construction Co., having been with them until the Saturday night before his death. He has also had employment with the Northwestern Railroad.

He is survived by his father and mother, his grandfather, William Weiher, two sisters, Mrs. Robert Stansbery of Farmington, and Miss Goldie at home, one brother, Orville of Bonaparte, one niece, seven nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends. His twin brother, Charles Keith Nelson, preceded him in death.

He was a dutiful son, devoted to his parents and grandfather, true to his brother and sisters and kind to his friends.

His thoughtfulness for others always ready to speak a cheering word or lend a helping hand, a visit or a letter to the sick, made him a favorite with old and young. Kenneth made friends and kept them wherever he went.

The entire community is grief stricken because of his early death which came so unexpectedly, and when it seemed there was so much of life before him.

Some time ago Kenneth came with the Melberg Co. to work on a bridge near Bonaparte and the family were looking forward to having him with them. Neighbors and friends sympathize with the family in their great sorrow.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at Story Chapel in charge of Rev. H.E. Butler, pastor of Farmington Methodist church. Interment was in the Thompson cemetery.

The funeral was one of the largest ever held in this community, showing the esteem in which the young man was held.
