JAMES L. FICKEY DIED SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11

Mr. James L. Fickey, who had been an almost continuous resident of this vicinity for almost 50 years, died at his home in Keosauqua at 7:45 Sunday morning, Nov. 11, of heart trouble, from which he had been a sufferer for several months, though he had been bedfast but a few days. He was an upright citizen, esteemed by his friends and acquaintances, and his death will be sincerely mourned.

James Laderman Fickey was born at Bonaparte, Iowa, May 7, 1848. He grew to manhood in the county, and served in the Civil war as a member of Co. E, 12th Iowa Infantry. January 27, 1869, he was united in marriage with Miss Malissa Smith in Keosauqua. Four children were born to them, two of whom are dead. Those living are Walter L. Fickey of Charles City, Iowa, and Mrs. C. C. Rowley of this place. His wife also survives him, as do two half brothers, Samuel and Benj. Beer.
