OBITUARY OF THE LATE JAMES W. MILLER

Mr. James W. Miller of Jackson township, southeast of Milton, father of County Treasurer Miller, died very suddenly Thursday of last week. Mr. Miller had been ill some time since, but had recovered. Thursday he drove to Milton. After returning home while warming himself by the fireside he complained he was tired, very tired, and immediately passed away.

Mr. Miller had been a resident of this county since 1857, having been born in Pennsylvania May 5, 1846, 71 years ago. August 21, 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Elvira Meek, a daughter of Robert Meek who at the time was one of [sic] proprietors of the Bonaparte woolen mills. She died Sept. 23, 1884. To this union were born two sons, Robert M. of Santa Monica, Calif., and Howard H. who lives on the farm in Davis county, Iowa. He was married to Alice Eich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Eich of Bonaparte Nov. 11, 1885. To this union four children were born: J. Eich Miller, who lives on the home farm; Chas. G. of Keosauqua, Agnes Lindsay of near Troy, and Bertha at home. He died at his home near Milton, Iowa, Jan. 3, 1918, aged 71 yrs, 7 mo. and 28 days. The wife, six chldren and eleven grandchildren survive him.
