George Boyd was born in the state of Pennsylvania April 29, 1842. In company with his parents he came to Keosauqua, Iowa, when ten years of age, and has made his home in Van Buren county ever since. He lived upon the farm now occupied by his son, Willard, until some sixteen years ago, when he retired from the farm and moved to Cantril where he made his home until the time of his death. He was united in marriage February 25, 1867, to Araminta J. Langford and to this union eight children were born, five sons and three daughters. The five sons and two daughters survive him; one daughter, Mary E. Boyd, with the mother preceded him in death. The names of the living are: Willard C. and George, jr., [sic] of Cantril, Iowa, Anderson and Bert of Des Moines , Iowa; Charley of Laveta, California; Mrs. Stella Deal and Mrs. Ida Roby of Milton, Iowa. He is also survived by two brothers, William of Cantril, and Steward of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; also eleven grand children and two great-grandchildren.

NOTE: As of 2004, I still do not have a death date for George Sr. and seek information on him and his family. His son George Jr. married a 3rd cousin of mine, Ida Mae McIntosh.
