Stephen Flood was born in Edgar county, Ill., Jan. 25, 1824. When he was 15 years old his father moved to Iowa and Mr. Flood has made his home near Farmington ever since.

He married Martha Adams by whom he had two children, George and Mrs. Flora Ponto, both of whom survive him.

In Oct. 20, 1869 he was married to Kate Lucas and to this union was born one child, Mrs. Jennie Fichtenmueller.

Mr. Flood was upright in his dealings with his fellow men and had many friends. He has been in failing health for some time and his disease terminated fatally Dec. 22, 1901. He had reached a good old age-77 years, 10 months and 27 days.

He has been a Free Mason for more than 40 years and was buried with Masonic honors.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist church Tuesday, Dec. 24, conducted by pastor Thomas Ratcliffe.
