The death of E. H. Rockwell, which occurred Tuesday morning, May 14, came as quite a shock to his friends, who considered his physical condition as having improved since his recent illness, of which previous mention was made in these columns.
Mr. Rockwell suffered a stroke of paralysis in July, 1910, and another about a year later. For some time past he had severed with heart trouble. However this trouble seem to be under control, when he again stricken with paralysis Monday night, this being the third stroke, which proved fatal a few hours later.
Edgar Horace Rockwell was born Feb. 6, 1856, at Roanoke, Indiana, and was married in Richardson County, Nebr., April 15, 1869, two Miss Maggie E Peters.
He came to Farmington in 1887 and joined his brother Frank, who was publishing The Farmington Herald, which he later purchased, conducting until summer of 1909. He was for many years a prominent figure in democratic politics.
He is survived by the bereaved wife, one daughter, Mrs. Rena Wilcken of Indianapolis, and one son Walter F., Of this place; also one brother Frank, of deals burg, Eleanor, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G C Goodenough at 10:30 Thursday from the family residence and the body was taken to Gallesburg [sic], Ill. for burial.
