Mrs. Nancy Collins.

Nancy Vickers was born in Wilkes County N. C., Feb. 8th, 1827. She was the daughter of James and Sarah Vickers.

With her parents she came from North Carolina to Indiana when a small child and from there to Iowa in 1852 and settled near Albia where she was married Feb. 18, 1853, to Daniel Collins.

To them were born five children three boys and two girls, four of whom are still living, one dying in infancy. They are Mrs. J B Edwards of Bonaparte; W F Collins of Ft. Madison; W S Collins of Davenport and Mrs. Geo. Clark of Des Moines.

She came with her family to Bonaparte in the fall of 1865 where she has since lived, making her home for the past several years with her daughter, Mrs. J B Edwards who tenderly cared for her in her old age.

She was converted and joined the Methodist Church in 1856 and during all those years has been a consistent follower of Christ, holding on to God by faith, until the very end, and died in the triumphs of a living faith.

In addition to her sons and daughters mentioned above, she has one brother, Harvey Vickers, Farmington, and nine grandchildren.

She was called to pass through the deep waters of sorrow when in 1891 her husband with whom she had lived many years was called away by death.

She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. B. Edwards, on Monday afternoon May 13th at 5 o'clock aged 85 years, 3 months, and 5 days.

She lived long and experienced much of joy and sorrow, but as these things all work for good to them that love God, so they work in her life for a fuller development of soul and an assurance of a larger reward in eternity.

The funeral was held from the M E Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of her pastor, Rev. J H Taylor, and the body was left to sleep in Bonaparte Cemetery.
