Rex F. Hootman, Jr., 59 of Keosauqua died Monday April 28, 2014 at his home in Keosauqua. He was born May 24, 1954 in Fairfield to Rex and Onalee Swartout Hootman and married Tamara J. DeWitt who preceded him in death Feb. 14, 1989. His father also preceded him in death.

Rex grew up in Birmingham, graduated for Van Buren High School in 1972, worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield, lived in Pella and Oskaloosa, worked at Rolscreen in Pella and retired to Keosauqua after his wife’s death.

Surviving are his mother of rural Keosauqua, a sister, Julia Cass (Danny) of Birmingham, a nephew, Nathan Cass and a niece, Sara Cass both of Fairfield.

His body has been cremated. The family will receive friends at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua 12:30 to 1 P.M. Saturday May 3, 2014 and proceed to Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa for burial of cremains at 2:30 P.M. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 12, Birmingham, IA 52535.
