Beulah M. Parrott Rains, 87, of rural Birmingham died at 8:15 P.M. Saturday May 3, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren, Keosauqua. She was born August 29, 1926 in the Oak Grove community east of Douds to Leo F. and Ella Hootman Parrott and married Robert J Rains Jr. September 16, 1944 in Butler, NC. Beulah graduated from Keosauqua High School, Class of 1944, and was a farm wife and homemaker.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, two sons, Allan L. Rains (Maria) of Bonaparte and Roy D. Rains (Sherry) of Birmingham, a daughter, Carolyn K. Taylor (Delbert) of Bloomfield, seven grandchildren, Tracy Victory of Birmingham, Penny Brombaugh of Keosauqua, Lesa Prevo of Bloomfield, Amanda Lyons of Downing, MO, Angie Strictler of Stockport, Sheila Rains of Farmington, Robbie Rains of Salem, Kerry Taylor of Ankeny and Kris Taylor of Fairfield, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Darrell Robert Rains, a sister, Clella McQuaide and a brother, David Parrott.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday May 7, 2014 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present 6-7:30 P.M. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds. Memorials to Good Samaritan Society Hospice or Haney-Brannan Post No. 181, American Legion, Birmingham may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 5, Birmingham, IA 52535
