Haviland Stewart.
Haviland Stewart was born in Harrison Co. Kentucky, Nov. 11, 1837, and died of paralysis at the Soldier’s Hospital at Marshalltown, Iowa, Jan. 22, 1909, age 72 years 2 months and 11 days.
He enlisted in Keokuk, Ia., May 27, 1861, in Company F. Second Iowa Infantry. He was discharged July 12, 1865, at Davenport, Iowa.
He was married to Emma C. Mank July 18, 1865. To this union were born eight children: Delbert S. Stewart, Mrs. Lucy Grimm, Mrs. Clara Dobson, Mrs. Bertha Maloney, and Carroll Stewart all of Des Moines: Mrs. Pearl Jobe of St. Louis; Mrs. Bessie Her of Greenfield; and Mrs. Floy Smith of Bonaparte.
The funeral was held at Marshalltown, Iowa, Saturday Jan. 23, 1909, at 5 o’clock, the widow and all of the children being present except Mrs. Bessie Her and Mrs. Floy Smith.
The remains were brought to Bonaparte, Monday for interment.
