Miner Dies At 59

Frank R. "Butch" Miner, 59, Fairfield businessman, died at 12:45 a.m. today at University Hospitals in Iowa City. He had been ill for several years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport. The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

Miner was owner of the Miner Seed House west on Highway 34. He had worked for the Yeager Seed Co. for many years before opening his own business in the early 1960s.

Miner was born Dec. 7, 1914 near Stockport, the son of Lloyd T. and Sarah D. Wells Miner. He was a graduate of Stockport High School and Parsons College. He was a veteran of World War II.

Miner was married Dec. 20, 1947 to Sylvia J. Bowers. Surviving are his widow, one son, Frank R. Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Lloyd Miner, Stockport; two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Flora Davidson, Largo, Fla.; Mrs. Elnora McDowell, Keota; Lawrence Miner, Stockport; and Harry L. Miner, Tallahassee, Fla.

Miner was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Fairfield Golf and Country Club and Elks Club. He was also affiliated with several professional organizations.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
