Obituary.

Miss Elizabeth Boyd Christy, the subject of this sketch, was born in New Rumley, Harrison county, Ohio November 26, 1814, and died in Bonaparte, Iowa, Jan. 17, 1899, aged 84 years, 1 month and 21 days. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Christy, and made her home with her brother the late Thomas Christy until her death. “Aunt Lizzie”, as she was familiarly called by everyone who knew her, always had a good word to say for everybody and was always worried if any one of the members of the family was sick; and although deprived of good eyesight for a number of years, was able to be around the house until taken with her last sickness. She was the last of a family of four sisters and three brothers.

Her mother died 52 years ago; and she, being the oldest, the remaining children always made their home a home for her. She leaves to mourn her loss one brother-in-law, Mr. W. J. Johnson, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah C. Christy, with whom she made her home, and seven nieces and nine nephews. She passed away peacefully as one dropping asleep, having lived four score years. “Aunt Lizzie” will be missed in the community where she has so long made her home, and by the members of the family who have been so accustomed to see her in her usual place day after day.
