Mrs. Matilda R. Sharp

Matilda Reckmeyer was born Nov. 25, 1862, at Farmington. She made her home with her sister, Mrs. Melo Mott, where she died on Feb. 18, 1940, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 23 days.

On April 1st, 1888, she was united in marriage to G.W. Sharp.

For a number of years she was organist in the German Methodist church. In recognition of her faithful service in this capacity she was presented a Bible. She was a member of the Congregational church.

Mrs. Sharp was very active and in good health until just a few days before her death. She was always cheerful and never failed to greet a new day with a smile on her face. She was thoughtful of others and forgetful of self. By her quiet and kindly presence here in this community and by her little deeds of thoughtfulness she has endeared herself to many. All those friends who will mourn her passing will hold in their hearts sweet memories of a life well spent.

She leaves three sisters, Mary Esther Reckmeyer of Chicago, Mrs. Nellie Chapman of Des Moines, and Mrs. Melo Mott of Farmington: three nieces, one nephew and a host of friends who mourn her passing, but hold dear the memories of her and look forward to meeting her again in the life eternal.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Methodist church, Rev. Dale Nicholson officiating. Burial in Farmington cemetery.
