Services Jan. 20 For A.B. Stewart

Alexander Bryant Stewart was born December 12, 1856, in Clark County, Missouri, and departed this life on January 19, 1940, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 7 days. He was the son of H.A. and Finettie Troxel Stewart. He was united in marriage to Lizzie Sonora Harr, January 18, 1880. To this union six children were born. Those surviving are Mrs. Wm. Hamilton of Chula, Mo, Mrs. Claude E. Jacobs, of Lanedo, Mo., Mrs. James Mennick, of Pundin, Missouri; and one son, H.A. Stewart of Farmington, Iowa, with whom he made his home for the past nine years. He is also survived by an aged sister, Mrs. Mary Cook, of Kahoka, Mo.; two nieces, Mary Alice Peterson, of Wyoming and Emma Lou Lowell, of St. Louis, Mo.; one nephew, Harry Stewart of Kirksville, Mo., fourteen grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His wife and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Jacobs and Rachel Finettie Stewart preceded him in death.

He moved to Sullivan county on February 22, 1882, where he resided until 1933, then moved back to the old home place in Clark county, Mo., where he passed away. Funeral services were held in Kahoka, at the Karle Funeral Chapel, Saturday, Jan. 20, 1949, at 9:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Myrtle Dawson, pastor of the Anson Community Church.

The pallbearers were Alpha Martin, Ernest Dyer, Worthy Wallingford, Mannie Baugher, Wm. Wilson and Charles Willets. Interment was in Scrocks Cemetery in Sullivan county.
