Services Friday For Clive V. Ramey

Clive V. Ramey, son of John and Elizabeth Ramey was born at Abingdon, Iowa, on January 16, 1891 and passed away at his home in Farmington on July 28, 1948 at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 12 days.

He united with the Christian Church at Packwood, Iowa, and later affiliated with the Congregation Church at Farmington.

During the First World War he served with the Armed Forces and settled in Farmington after his discharge from the Army. On December 17, 1919 he was united in marriage to Hallie M. Boyer. Following the death of his brother and sister-in-law, he brought his niece, Ruth and nephew, Richard into his home and in the years that followed gave them all the love, care and advantages that a father could possibly have for them. Shortly after coming to Farmington he bought a garage and since 1926 has sold Chevrolets and built one of the outstanding businesses of the community.

He served as a member of the Board of Education for many years, was a member of the Soldiers Relief Board and was interested and active in the American Legion.

His mother, father and one brother preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Hallie, his niece and nephew, Ruth and Richard, two brothers O. A. Ramey of Richland and R. O. Ramey of Quincy, Washington, several nieces and nephews and a great many friends and business associates.

C. V., as we all knew him, was a man who will be greatly missed in the community. He was public spirited and never too busy to help anyone in a time of need. He loved his home and his family and no effort was too great to insure their happiness.

Through months of illness he showed a valiant and positive spirit that come only from a courageous heart. His going is a loss to his family, his friends and the community.

In that far land beyond the stars and sun
He walks a pathway that is smooth and bright.
To us he’s left the memory of a life well done,
And though, for now, he walks beyond our sight,
We know that some day in that high and sunny land
We’ll meet him once again and _________
_____cut off___________.

Note: I am researching the Ramey family.
