Many old friends and neighbors attended the funeral service for Austin Hughes Woodruff at Cemetery Chapel Sunday, conducted by Rev. C.A. Smith. He passed away at home of his niece, Mrs. Edith Dorsey where he had been tenderly cared for many weeks. He was aged 79 years. He leaves one brother, J.W. of Ft. Madison, one sister Mrs. Lina Schneider of Granger. One sister and his parents preceded him in death. Singers were Rev. Smith and Winnie Overhulser, with Mrs. Walter Alexander organist. Pallbearers were Chas. Snyder, Linn Howell, Fred Bowman, Ernest St. Clair, Charley Overhulser and Fred Luke. Interment in the grave by his great-great-grandfather, Major Noel, who I believe was the first grave in that cemetery. We extend deepest sympathy in their bereavement. I have known Austin all of my life. We were playmates and schoolmates for years.
