ELMER EVERETT WALKER

Elmer Everett Walker, son of Cyrus and Laura Walker, was born near Van Wert February 6, 1883 and quietly passed away January 17, 1948 at his home in Garden Grove, Iowa, after a lingering illness of four years, at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was bedfast the last 14 months.

He lived in the county where he was born until February 22, 1925 and then moved down near Farmington in the edge of Missouri, and in 1941 moved back to Iowa 1 1/2 miles north of Farmington. The last two years of his life were spent in Decatur county.

He was united in marriage to Linnie Machlan April 5, 1903. To this union seven children were born: Elsie Cofey, Garden Grove; Roscoe Alton, who died in infancy; Geraldine Woolley, Garden Grove; Florence Van Zant, Los Angeles, Calif.; Virgil of Waterloo, Iowa; Alma King of Revere, Mo.; Mary Bonham, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was the last of the family of three children. His father, mother, brother and sister preceded him in death.

When a young man, he was converted and joined the Methodist Church at Van Wert, Iowa. Later he changed his membership to the Farmington Methodist Church. He was a strong believer in Christian fellowship and always gave freely to charity organizations. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and had a host of relatives and friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, six children, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A loved one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A chair is vacant in our home.
