LLOYD ELLIS VON SEGGEN

Lloyd Ellis Von Seggen, son of Fred and Addie Von Seggen, was born Nov. 10, 1886, at Farmington, Iowa, and passed away Sept. 2, 1937, at State University hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 50 years, 9 months and 8 days.

He has lived in this community his entire life, receiving his education in the Farmington public school. He began brick making with his father in 1904 and continued in the work until 1916. He then took up farming, which has been his occupation until his death.

He was united in marriage April 7, 1914, to Mary Ethel Vornkahl at Acasto, Mo. To this union two children were born, Milo Herman and Wilma Lois.

He was converted in a revival meeting held in the Methodist church by Monkman brothers in 1898, and was sanctified in October, 1922 under the preaching of Brother Nease in the Nazarene church of which he was a member. He was a faithful attendant and worker in the church up to the last, until illness of a few days called him away to be with Jesus, whom he loved and served. He expressed his readiness to go and to this we say, "Thy will be done." We look up through our sorrow today with a hope in Jesus seeing him some day where partings are no more. All was done that human hands could do but God's way is the best way though we cannot always understand.

He was preceded in death by his mother May 13, 1901, and a brother, Elmer, July 6, 1902, aged 12. At his departure he leaves a devoted wife and two children, his father and stepmother, many relatives and friends.
