WILLIAM B. VAN ZANT

William Barnes Van Zant was born May 23, 1875, and passed away at the Graham hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, Sunday morning, January 30, 1949 at 1:30 a.m. The age at the time of passing was 73 years, 8 months and 7 days.

Mr. Van Zant spent most all of his life in Farmington, with the exception of 2 years in Chehalis, Washington, and 5 years in Keokuk.

Mr. Van Zant's occupation was that of a painter and as a result he made many friends and acquaintances through his work.

Feb. 28, 1901, Mr. Van Zant was united in marriage to Miss Hallie Miller. Unto this union were born nine children, 4 having passed on in infancy. The five surviving are Mrs. William Norton of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Mrs. Martha Saltzgaver of Farmington, Iowa, Mrs. Martina Londrie of Keokuk, Iowa, and Dale and Paul, both of Keokuk.

Surviving besides his wife, 3 daughters and 2 sons, are one brother, Harper Van Zant now in the Graham hospital at Keokuk, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 from the local Baptist Church, conductetd by the Rev. Harold Thomas. Interment in Green Cemetery.
