DR. WALTER F. PAULY

Dr. Walter Frank Pauly died during sleep sometime in the early morning Wednesday, May 25. he was heard getting a drink of water from the kitchen about 2 a.m., but was found dead in bed about 5:30 a.m., by the housekeeper, Mrs. Coffey of Scotland county. Death was from natural causes, probably a heart attack of which he suffered two previous attacks. He was apparently as well as usual the day before and had received patients.

Funeral services will be held from the Kahoka Baptist church Saturday afternoon at 1:30 with the Rev. W.T. Vaughn officiating.

Burial will be made in the Bear Creek cemetery.

A son of Frank Joseph Pauly, native of Germany and Margaret Ann Bailey Pauly, a native of Virginia, he was born at Fairmont, July 2, 1875 and was one of a family of eleven children, only two of whom survive: Mrs. Ida Pugh of Kahoka, formerly of Memphis and Mrs. C.D. Mills of Winner, South Dakota. His parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death, one sister, Mrs. T.M. Wood of Atlanta, Georgia, only a few months since.

He was never married.

Dr. Pauly received his higher education in a business school at Kirksville, and graduated from the Kirksville School of Osteopathy in 1905, later doing post graduate work in eye, ear, nose and throat care in Chicago. Following his graduation from Kirksville, he located for a few months in Stockport, Iowa, but soon came to Kahoka about 1906, where he established his practice, first in offices on the square, and later built the private hospital which bears his name.

He was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist church and at one time of the Masonic lodge. Some years ago he presented to the local Baptist church the present silver communion service.

Among other relatives expected to attend the funeral service are his nephews Frank Pauly of Tulsa, Okla., and Charles Wood of Evanston, Illinois.-Kahoka, Mo. Courier.
