JOSEPHINE OLSON

Josephine Huxford was born in Oak Grove, Wisc., on Sept. 29, 1867, the daughter of Henry and Anna Wells Huxford. She taught country schools following her graduation from Beaver Dam Academy.

On May 11, 1892, she was united in marriage to Andrew C. Olson, and lived in Juneau, Wisc., until 1909, when they moved to Topeka, Kansas. After five years they came to Iowa and lived in Des Moines for 24 years. They moved to Farmington in 1939, where Mr. Olson passed away in July, 1942, shortly after they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

To this union two children were born, Lyle A. of Farmington, and Alice Olson Lodge of Chicago both of whom survive her. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Hattie Crogan of Plymouth, Wisconsin, and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Francis Mary Wyman.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Des Moines, and an interested church worker as long as health permitted.

She took a deep interest in various community activities and study clubs, having been a member of the chautauqua(sic) club from about 1890.

Her concern for her family and their activities was always uppermost in her mind. Oil painting and similiar(sic) artistic lines constituted her hobby for many years.

She passed away on Aug. 18, 1951, aged 83 years, 10 months and 19 days, after an illness of about six months.

Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church by Rev. Fay Marriott. Interment at Greenglade cemetery.

Praise God the Shepard is so sweet!
Praise God the County is so fair!
We could not hold her from His feet;
We can but haste to meet her there.
