CHARLES A. PITNEY

Charles Aaron Pitney, son of Aaron and Josephine Spurrier Pitney was born near Acasto, Mo., March 25, 1878 and departed this life at University Hospital, Iowa City Iowa, on April 6, 1949 at the age of 71 years and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Julia Green on January 25, 1899 at Kahoka, Mo., and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. They established their home in the Acasto community and lived there until the year of 1932 when they moved to Farmington, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his devoted wife, one son, Russell Pitney of Farmington, Iowa, and daughter, Mrs. Geo. Smith Luray, Mo.; also five grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, James Pitney, one sister, Mrs. Ida Gaston, both of Farmington, Iowa; besides friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother.

Mr. Pitney's illness had extended over a period of several months, but the last three weeks he became seriously ill and was taken to the hospital. All was done that human hands could do, but God's way is best though we cannot always understand.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 8, at 2:00, from the Farmington Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. John McCallum. Interment in Greenglade Cemetery.
