DAVENPORT — Viola “Irene” DeBow, 103, of Davenport died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Davenport Lutheran Assisted Living. Services in celebration of her long life will be 11 a.m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, with the Rev. Chris Lockie officiating. Her family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Davenport Lutheran Assisted Living or to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Irene, as she was known, was born in 1910 in Fayette County, Iowa, to Albert M. and Lela M. Spatcher. She married Harold DeBow on June 28, 1936, in Arlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1991. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, reading and playing cards.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lynne (Mike) Thompson of Davenport; son, Lee DeBow Ph.D., M.D., of Baltimore, Md.; daughter-in-law, Jane DeBow of Davenport; grandchildren, Paul (Janice) Thompson, Daniel Thompson, Shaun DeBow, and Stephanie (Jeff) Latham; great-grandchildren, Whitney (Phil) Reneger, Jeffrey (Carissa) Latham and Shane Snow; and great-great-grandchildren, Bailey and Zoey Reneger. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry DeBow (2008); grandson, Timothy Michael DeBow; and siblings, George Spatcher, Pansie Spatcher, Fern Heller Payne and Lester Spatcher.
