LeRoy Eugene Nelson, 72, of Bentonville, Arkansas, formerly of Blakesburg, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rogers, Arkansas. He was born Nov. 11, 1930 at Mt. Sterling, Iowa to Samuel G. and Sadie M. Garrett Nelson. He married Beulah Dickson, Oct. 2, 1954, at West Grove, Iowa. She preceeded him in death Aug. 20, 1966. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he served in Korea. He was a farmer in Blakesburg and retired from Young Radiator in Centerville. He moved from Blakesburg to Bentonville, Arkansas in 1995. Survivors include daughter Lisa Hendrix of Farmington, Arkansas; two granddaughters; two step-grandsons; three brothers, Sam Nelson of Bonaparte, Archie Nelson of Albia and Pete Nelson of Knox City, Missouri; and sister Catherine Bickel of Springfield, Missouri. He was prceeded in death by his wife; sister Madeline Eden; and two brothers. Funeral services were held Sept. 9, 2003, at Knedler Funeral Home, Blakesburg with Rev. James Pickens officiating. Burial was in West Grove Cemetery.
