AGED, DEAR MOTHER DIES

Catherine Sullivan, daughter of John and Elizabeth Enderweisen, was born in Germany, September 7, 1851, and departed this life at her home in Farmington, Iowa, November 2, 1940, aged 89 years, 1 month and 25 days.

At the age of nine, with her parents, they immigrated to America and settled on a farm near Acasto, Mo., where she grew to womanhood. On January 13, 1879, she was united with John W. Sullivan in marriage. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Elizabeth Edmonson.

After her husband’s death, some 15 years ago she moved to Farmington, Iowa, where she has since made her home. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael, Phillip, Frank and Jacob, and is survived by one brother, Andrew, and one sister, Mrs. Georgia Green; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Edmonson, and seven grandchildren.

Kate, as she was commonly called by her intimate friends, was a woman of many virtues and her one great aim in life was to help those who were afflicted and spread flowers in the paths of her acquaintances.

The funeral was conducted ay the Union Chapel, Acasto, Mo., by Rev. Dale Nicholson, and the body laid to rest in the family lot beside that of her husband in the adjoining cemetery.

The body bearers were Earl Enderweisen, Sidney Keller, Lonnie Green, Harry Sullivan, Clarence Coffin and Chas. Weller, all nephews.

“Her life’s work is done but her good example lives on.” (Written by a life-long friend)

Those attending the funeral from Kahoka were: James and Jess Nixon, Chas. McDonnell and wife, Ed L. Weaver, Chas. Kennedy, wife and son, Glen, Miss Mary Handlon and Leo Handlon and wife.
