ROY WEBBER IS ACCIDENTALY KILLED

By Premature Explosion of Shot Gun While Hunting-Died of Shock and Loss of Blood.

At about ten o'clock on last Tuesday morning word came to The News that Roy Webber, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Webber, (now deceased), had had an accident, which later resulted in his death at Ottumwa.

It seems that Mr. Webber was out doing his chores when he seen a rabbit in his orchard and went to the house to get his gun. On going from the house to the orchard he stepped into a post hole, and in falling the gun was prematurely exploded, the contents going thru his left arm at the elbow joint completely shattering that member.

Mrs. Webber witnessed the accident form the window, but was so nervous and excited it was a hard matter for her to make the neighbors know over the telephone just what had happened. However, Dave Collais, one of his nearest neighbors, came over and attempted to stop the profuse flow of blood by putting a cloth firmly tied above the wound but over the wearing apparel, which helped in a way to stop the loss of blood.

The loss of blood was considerable before medical assistance could be had. _______ to town and placed on the passenger and taken to the hospital at Ottumwa, where a diagnosis showed that he could not stand an operation to amputate the arm without transfusion of blood. But before this could be accomplished he passed away at about six o'clock Tuesday night from shock.

Mr. Webber leaves a wife, three children, (the oldest eight and the youngest three), one brother and two sisters. We understand that he carried heavy insurance on his life, which will be a mighty big help to the bereaved widow and children.

The funeral was held at one o'clock yesterday afternoon from his late home and interment was had in the Smith cemetery.
