John W. Kutcher

Funeral services for John W. Kutcher, were held Sunday, April 29, at the Baptist church conducted by The Rev. Walter Wigger of St. Charles, Mo. Music was furnished by Keith Gaston with Carrie Boyer at the piano. Pallbearers were all nephews of the late Mr. Kutcher. Rolland Kutcher, Stanley Kutcher,, Raymond Kutcher, Edwin Kutcher, Carl Kutcher and Albert Kutcher. Interment was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington.

John W. Kutcher, son of Magdelene Hall Kucher and Adam Kutcher was born in Nauvoo, Ill., June 5, 1873 and departed this life April 26, 1945.

When he was a small child the family moved to Clark County, Missouri.

February 17, 1897 he was united in marriage with Miss Elsie Washburn of Clark County, Missouri. After their marriage they moved to a farm and continued to make their home in Clark County. To this union six children were born.

About 28 years ago the family moved to Farmington, Iowa, where Mr. Kutcher went into business as a store keeper. He continued to operate a general merchandise business here until retirement only a few years ago. After our country became engaged in the war, Mr. Kutcher served in the Iowa Ordnance Plant at Burlington, until his health failed about a year ago.

During boyhood he was confirmed in the St. Paul Reformed Evangelical Church of Kahoka, Mo. After moving to Farmington he was baptized in the Baptist church where his membership remained until his death. Mr. Kutcher always maintained an active interest in Christian work and endeavored to live a Christian life. He also maintained an active interest in the affairs of our Nation and in the progress and welfare of our town and community.

Two children, June and Ruth, preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Mrs. Elsie Kutcher; four daughters, Mrs. Vera Gray, Mrs. Chloe Williams, Mrs. Minnie Bruggeman and Mis Edna Kutcher, all of Farmington; five grandchildren, Lloyd Gray, U. S. Navy, in the South Pacific, Robert Gray, U. S. Navy, Hawaii, John, Dean and Carolyn Bruggeman, Farmington; two brothers, Adams of Antioch, Mo. and Charles of Keokuk, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Wright and Mrs. Kathleen Wright of Kahoka, Mo.; a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
