ELIZABETH MAY KNAPP

Elizabeth May Bargar, youngest daughter of Marchand and Narcissa Lee Bargar, was born on her parents farm north of Farmington, Iowa April 7, 1872, and passed away Friday evening, Mar. 5, 1954, at the Farmington residence she called home for more than 50 years. She was 81 years, 10 months and 26 days old.

At an early age, she joined the Prairie Chapel Church, located near the family farm. Upon moving to Farmington with her parents in 1902, she transferred her membership to the Farmington Methodist Church and served it for a time as pianist.

On Dec. 28, 1919, she was married to Frank M. Knapp. They had no children. He preceded her in death as did her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

She had suffered a broken hip in June 1952 and remained a bedfast patient under the care of her niece, Mrs. Rachel Adams, at the family home. Other nieces who survive are: Fern Bonnett, Elliston, Montana; Mrs. Grace Goodsell, Des Moines; Mrs. Leah Walton, Barwick, Ontario, Canada; Mrs. Birdie Smith, Fairfield; Mrs. Aileen Hafner, North English; Mrs. Maude Adkisson, Donnellson; and Mrs. Gussie Phillips, Farmington. Also the following nephews: M. H. Bonnett, Broken Bow, Nebraska; R. A. Bonnett, Akron, Ohio; Delbert Bargar, Winfield; and Lyle Bargar, Farmington. In addition to these a large number of other relatives survive.

In the memory of her many nieces and nephews will remain fond recollections of cheerful little “Aunt Lizzie”. A favorite verse of hers was as follows:

All’s for the best ---- be sanguine and cheerful,
Trouble and sorrow are friends in disguise.
Nothing but folly is faithless and fearful ---
Courage forever is happy and wise.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church, Sunday, March 7th with Rev. James fisher officiating, with music by Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gaston. Pallbearers were: Albert Kutcher, S. O. Hartrick, S. O. Satterly, Albert Willits, Al Mayer and Minor Cummings. Burial in McDaniel Cemetery.
