MRS. JOHN HOUSE
Elizabeth Constance Tompkins, daughter of Uriah and Catherine Tompkins, was born in Farmington township March 22, 1848, and passed from this life April 21, 1934, aged 86 years and 29 days. Her whole life was spent in Van Buren county.
On March 28, 1867, she was united in marriage to John W. House. To this union were born seven children, all of whom are living near Bonaparte, with the exception of an infant daughter and Miss Mary Alice who preceded her mother in death. The living children are Mrs. Leona Muntz, Mrs. Catherine Story, Mrs. Sarah Rankin, Mrs. Noah House and Mr. Will House.
Mr. and Mrs. House lived on their farm until February of 1913 when they moved to Bonaparte. Mr. House lived just about three years after coming to town. He passed away on Nov. 9, 1916.
Mrs. House united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Story Chapel many years ago and was faithful to all her church duties, training her children in that faith. When able she attended divine worship at Bonaparte.
Besides her children she leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. Eliza Overhulzer of Luray, Mo., eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her home and family were of paramount importance all of her life. She was a good wife, loving and considerate mother, and a well-loved friend and neighbor. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at three o’clock at the Methodist church in Bonaparte. Interment in Thompson cemetery.
