Mrs. Orilla Harr
Mrs. Orilla Harr was born in West Virginia, April 21, 1855. Her parents were Cornelius and Mary Jane King. She departed this life in Marshalltown, Iowa Saturday, July 9, 1938 at 10 a.m. She had reached the advanced age of 83 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was of a family of five children and all of them have departed this life as well as her father and mother. She is the last of the family to pass away.
Mrs. Harr was united in marriage to John Harr March 2, 1892 near Athens, Missouri. They had no children. Mr. Harr died March 23, 1904. He was a soldier in the Civil War.
Mrs. Harr grew to womanhood in the Prairie chapel neighborhood. At the age of twenty her parents moved to Athens, Missouri community and where she married she and her husband lived on a farm near Athens, Missouri.
In 1902 they went to California for Mr. Harr’s health but in 1903 they returned from California and located in Farmington, Iowa.
About four years ago Mrs. Harr entered the Soldier’s Home at Marshalltown, Iowa and remained their(sic) until her death. At the age of fifteen years Mrs. Harr was converted and joined with the Prairie chapel Methodist Episcopal church and then transferred her membership to the Farmington Methodist church. Mrs. Harr was a very faithful worker in the church in her active years and loyal to all the interests of the church.
She was a very liberal contributor, financially to the church and supported the church liberally until her death.
She leaves only one near blood relative, a cousin, Mrs. Nancy Kizer of Gardner, Kansas.
