Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Henrietta Halfmann

Louise Henrietta Clyce Halfman, daughter of William and Christine Clyce, was born at Pinkney, Warren County, Mo., Oct. 23, 1876, and passed away Oct. 16, 1955 at Riverview Nursing Home in Farmington.

She was baptised in infancy, and received religious instructions and was confirmed at Victoria, Cass County, Iowa in 1892, by her stepfather. She united, by confession of Faith, with the First Baptist church of Farmington Dec. 31, 1936.

Her father died in Warren County, Mo., when she was seven years old. Three years later, her mother married Rev. A. Schlueter and they moved to Atlantic, Iowa, then to Victoria Township, Cass County. Later they moved to Franklin, Iowa, where she lived four years, and where her mother died in 1895 and was buried there.

Her stepfather remarried, and died in Tripoli, Iowa in 1908.

Henrietta was married to Louis C. Halfmann May 26, 1897, in Franklin by her stepfather, Rev. A. Schlueter. She and her husband came to Farmington in August, 1897, and made their home here. Mr. Halfmann died April 24, 1922 in a Keokuk hospital.

Her only brother, Thomas H. Clyce, died Sept. 13, 1926 at Pinkney, Mo. Her foster sister, Mrs. Wm. Schmidt, lives at Masena, Iowa. She also leaves other relatives and many friends.

She has had many heartaches and lonely hours, yet she tried to be cheerful and thoughtful of others, and always looked at the bright side of everything. Trusting in God, His word was a great comfort to her at all times.

“I have always lived a clean, honest, upright life, and I have always tried to be a real friend to everyone; and most happy when I could be of some help in some way whenever I could.”

Written July 7, 1928, by Mrs. Henrietta Halfmann.

All of her neighbors, also her many fiends will verify that Mrs. Halfmann truly lived up to the above beliefs.

Last rites were held Oct. 81, 1955 from the Baptist church with the Rev. Harry McKinney officiating. Burial was in Farmington cemetery.
