Sarah Jane Heath

Sarah Jane (Sadie) Abernathy, daughter of Oliver and Mary Upp Abernathy, was born in North Clark County, Mo., July 21, 1871 and was privileged to live far beyond the allotted three score years and ten and passed away Feb. 15, 1597 (sic 1957) at the age of 85 years, six months and 19 days.

On Feb. 17, 1892 she was married to Harry I. Heath and two children were born to bless this union.

Her entire life was spent near the place of her birth except three years of early married life spent on a farm near Keosauqua, Iowa.

She accepted Christ as her Savior in 1939, was baptized one year later and followed faithfully in His way of life and prayed earnestly that all other might find that way and enjoy the blessings of God, as she certainly did.

Her husband passed away Feb. 1, 1955 and had they lived until today it would mark 65 years of marriage.

Her father, mother and infant sister all preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish the memory of a devoted mother are one son, Clarence Heath with his wife, Bessie; one daughter, Mrs. E. Gilbert Bell, with her husband; two grandchildren, Maurine, Mrs. George Gould of Earlville, Ill., and Cleda, Mrs. Christian Fox of Portland, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Chris Fox and Linda and Lori Gould; five cousins and many friends.
