OBITUARY

JULIA ETHA HALL, daughter of John M. and Mary Jane Burrier, was born at Chambersburg, Clark County, Missouri, on October 4, 1871 and departed this life on December 4, 1954, aged 83 years and 2 months.

Part of her early life was lived in Bonaparte, Iowa, where she, in 1892, became the wife of Charles Carroll Hall, direct descendant of Charles Carroll, colonial Governor of Maryland. To this union was born two sons.

This family moved to Tacoma, Washington, in 1907, where they resided many years. The husband died June 25, 1931. The son, Carroll, died in childhood; the son Willard, died in middle life on August 25, 1951, and a granddaughter,, met an accidental death, November 2, 1950. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and one brother. Those near and dear to her still living are sisters, Mrs. Flora Cummings, of Bonaparte, Iowa, and Nora Barbara Burrier, of Farmington, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Helga Hall; a granddaughter, Marian Gerry; and grandson, Philip Hall, of Longview, Washington; also eleven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hall lived a devoted christian life and was affiliated with the Methodist faith. She was a member of the sisterhood of Royal Neighbors.

Her funeral services were held on December 8th in the C. O. Lynn Chapel with Mr. Malcolm Graham officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery at Tacoma, Washington.

How beautiful to be with God
When life is fading like a dream;
And from this mist encircled shore
We launch upon the unknown stream.
No doubt, no fears, no anxious cares
But comforted by staff and rod;
In the faith brightened hour of death
How beautiful to be with God.

Note: The obituary was typed on a typewriter and the poem was printed by hand. The word “copy” was stamped on the side of the page.

JULIE E. HALL

Mrs. Julie E. Hall, 83, 0f 55? Pacific Ave., died Saturday at her home. She was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, and had moved to Tacoma many years ago. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Royal Neighbors. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Florence Cummings, Bonaparte, and Miss Nora Burrier, Farmington, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mrs. Marian Gerry, John Hall, both of Tacoma, and Phillip Hall, Longview, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the C. O. Lynn Chapel, with Mr. Malcolm Graham officiating.
