BERTIE NEVADA CARTNAL

Btrtie(sic) Nevada Cartnal, daughter of Addie and Jacob Cartnal was born in Clark County, Mo., near Farmington, Iowa, August 17, 1883 and passed away in St. Josephs Hospital at Keokuk, Iowa, May 20, 1950 at the age of 66 years after an illness of 17 months.

She was united in marr9iage to Herman Carter, October 5, 1904 to this union was born one daughter, Hillis Vera. Mr. Carter preceded her in death in 1927.

On January 10, 1934 she was united in marriage to B. F. Griffith at Santa Barbara, California, who has been a loyal and loving companion. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church for 28 years and of the Royal Neighbors of America for 25 yre(sic)., also past President of the United Spanish War Veteran’s Auxiliary of Oroville, California.

Bertie was a devoted wife and mother, she loved her home and friends and was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her kindly smile and thoughtful deeds.

She was tenderly cared for in the home by her daughter and all was done that kind hearts and loving hands could do, but, to no avail.

She is survived by her husband, and one daughter, Hillis, four sisters, Mrs. Glenn Murphy, Miss Nora Cartnal, Mrs. Herbert Barrows all of Farmington and Mrs. Arthur Purdy of Rutledge, Missouri, two brothers, Charles and Clark Cartnal of Farmington and nieces and nephews and a number of relatives.
