L.W. Brattain.
Lemmon W. Brattain was born in Farmington, Iowa, Nov. 12, 1844, and died at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, April 4, 1920. He spent his entire life in southern Iowa.
He was married to Miss Cary Seeker of Mt. Pleasant; To this union was born one child, Mrs. G.M. Carr.
In 1861 he enlisted in the 9th Iowa Cavalry. In 1862 he reinlisted [sic] in the 17th Iowa Infantry and served until the end of the war.
He was a great Bible student and almost knew the book by heart. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, and daughter, one grandson, and one sister, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
“Gone, but not forgotten.”
Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2 P.M., April 7, by Rev. S.D. McCracken of the Presbyterian church. Veterans of the World War acted as pall bearers. Interment was in the Bonaparte cemetery.
