TAYLOR
Margaret Hampton was born in Wayne Co., Ind. May 31, 1826. She came of a family of nine children. Four sisters and one brother still live. They came to Iowa in 1847. Margaret Hampton and Lewis Taylor married June 27, 1852. They lived a happy and useful life together for forty-seven years. February 19, 1899, the husband died, after a short illness, leaving her to follow him eighteen days later. Her death came from paralysis. Though life lingered thirty-six hours after the fatal stroke, she knew but two hours of suffering.
Five children came to the home of Lewis and Margaret Taylor – two dying in infancy.
Funeral services were held at the dear old home near Big Mound Iowa where they had lived for forty years.
Rev. Mahaffie conducted the services, and the Hillsboro choir sang the same sweet songs they had sung for her hearing and comfort but three weeks before. The newly-made grave at Sharon cemetery was opened and they were side by side at rest, as they had been through life.
