James Stagers

BETTENDORF — James “Jim” Stagers, 61, of Bettendorf died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, surrounded by his family at his sister’s home in Fairfield, Iowa. Services in celebration of his life will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bettendorf Christian Church, 3487 Towne Pointe Drive, Bettendorf, with the Rev. Karl Roberts officiating. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club or to the family.

Jim was born in 1952 in Keosauqua, Iowa, the son of Warren and Irene Stagers. He graduated from Fairfield High in 1970 and worked for various trucking companies. On Sept. 3, 1976, he married Becky Fry in Fairfield. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, but found his greatest joy in his family and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include Becky, his wife of 37 years, and daughter, Amanda (Adam) Creighton; two grandchildren, Ahriyana and Alex, all of Bettendorf; his mother, Irene, Fairfield; sisters, Linda (Jim) Simpson, Fairfield, Shirley (Ron Shy) Stagers, Cape Fair, Mo., Bev (Rodney) Nelson, Libertyville, Iowa, and Lori (Wayne) Boger, Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey Stagers, and his father, Warren.
