NANCY C. BROOKS

Nancy Catherine Brooks, daughter of Mary and Thomas Godown passed away Jan. 14, 1945, 6 a.m. at the Mesa Arizona hospital. She was 74 years old. She was born Feb. 22, 1870 in Van Buren County. She was a lifelong resident of the Selma comunity(sp) and was a member of the Baptist church.

On March 23, 1890 she was united in marriage to John Brooks, who preceded her in death, July 27, 193g(err). To this union 4 children were born. All surviving, Leo L. of Rock Island, Ill.; Oscar R. of Davenport, Freda Lagle of Selma and Glow Pickens of Mesa, Arizona, who she was visiting at the time of her death. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and one grandchild preceded her in death.

Two of her grandsons are in the armed forces both serving overseas.

She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed among her family all who knew her.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.
