Services Monday For L.M. Bennett

Lived on Same Farm 49 Years; Survved(sp)by 2 Sons, 4 Brothers and 1 Sister.

Funeral services for Lawrence M. Bennett, 84, were held at the Pedrick funeral home at Douds Monday, December 27, in charge of the Rev. J.C. Austin of Keosauqua.

Singers were Mrs. Mabel Finney, Mrs. Mabel Daniels, Forrest Hanshaw and Mark Doud, with Mrs. Lizzie Pollock as pianist. The bearers were Harvey Oosthoek, George Hill, Jack Boyer, John Laughlin, Ernest Laughlin and Harold Jones. Interment was at the Zion Lutheran cmeetery(sp).

Mr. Bennett died at 2 a.m. Saturday on his farm three miles northeast of Douds, where he had lived 49 years. He had been in failing health the last three years.

Surviving are two sons, Lester Bennett, who with his family lived with the elderly man during his illness, and Millard of Texas; four brothers George of Bloomfield, S.M. of Lawrence, Kan., J.H. of Beulah, Colo., and O.S. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Ella Coleman of Beulah, Colo., and two half sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Farrell of Lancaster, Mo., and Mrs. Ruby Hamilton of Waterloo.
