MERLE ELSENSOHN DIES IN WASHINGTON
**Handwritten: 1944

Merle Elsensohn, 37, died Friday, September 1 at the Vancouver hospital in Vancouver, Washington. He had been in the hospital nine weeks. He had first had pneumonia and then heart trouble developed. He was the only child of Lawrence and Hattie Nicklin Elsensohn, former residents of Douds. He was born east of Leando and lived in Iowa City several years before going to Washington.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Donald; his father, Lawrence Elsensohn of Vancouver, and his mother, Mrs. Hattie Elsensohn of Iowa City. He was a nephew of Mrs. Frank Knecht of Douds.

Funeral services and burial were in Washington.
