JOSHUA RENEKER

Joshua, son of Daniel and Mary Ann Sawvel Reneker, was born October 26, 1851, and passed away at his home near Douds, July 10, 1946.

Born on an adjoining farm, he spent his entire life of 94 years, 8 months and 14 days in the same community.

He was one of a family of five children, a sister dieing(sp) in early childhood, and a brother, Jacob in 1931. Two brothers survive, W.D. of Douds and Dr. Geo. W. of Falls City, Nebraska.

On Christmas day, 1892, he was united in marriage with Susan Viola Sampson, of Osceola, Iowa, and to this union were born six children, five of whom are living: Daisy Strait of Keosauqua, Glenn of Birmingham, Raymond of Delta, Paul of Birmingham and Joshua, Jr., of Douds.

His wife preceded him in death, Oct. 10, 1915 and a daughter, Esther Strait, November 1, 1920.

Thirteen grandchildren are left to mourn his death besides other relatives.

His life was long, busy and useful and he will be sadly missed in the home and by his friends.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the Lion (Zion) Lutheran Church, Rev. G.J. Dingman of Fairfield incharge, assisted by Rev. W.B. Roudybush of Douds. Burial in the Lion(err) Lutheran cemetery, Douds. Pallbearers were Frank Siemon, Raymond Parrott, Julius Schleeter, Lester Morrow, Fred Gilbert and Lew Hootman.
