Corp. Sutton First Selma Man Killed
SELMA.-Corp. Wayne J. Sutton, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.L. Sutton of Ainsworth, formerly of Selma, was killed in action in Italy May 12. (44)
Corporal Sutton was born June 15,1919, at Selma, attended the Selma schools and was a valuable athlete while a high school student. He entered military service in the spring of 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Shelby, Miss., with an infantry unit. He went overseas last December.
Besides his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Lewis, Kenneth, David and John, all of Ainsworth, and one sister, Mrs. Floyd Taylor of Selma. The family had always resided in this community until it moved to Ainsworth about April 1.
Young Sutton is the first Selma man to die in this war. He spent his last furlough at his home here last October.
