Davis County Farmer Killed Under TractorBLOOMFIELD.-Howard Cook, 53, a farmer living southeast of Stiles, was killed Thursday morning whenhe was pinned beneath his overturned tractor.
Cook had gone to a field to fill ditches with the tractor. When he did not return to the house at noon his daughter, Mrs. Wray Wardlow, went to the field and found him face down with the tractor across his back.
Neighbors were summoned to lift off the tractor and he was found to be unconscious but still living. He died upon arrival at the Dr. G.W. Gillfillan office in Bloomfield.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Hubert Lister of Stiles and Mrs. Wray Wardlow and Darlene at home; a son, serving in North Africa, and his father, living at a nursing home in Ottumwa. His wife, Edna McManus Cook, died several years ago.
