Sylvester C. Whitlow.
Sylvester Crittenden Whitlow was born Kentucky, Aug. 12, 1861, and died April 23, 1918, in the Santa Fe hospital at Ft. Madisou, Io. He came to Iowa at the age of 19 years and remained in this state the rest of his life, preferring the state of his adoption to that of his birth. The writer has known Mr. Whitlow for years and knew him to be a good man.
He was spoken of in the highest terms by his associates at Madison where he spent 25 years of his life. A friend, Chas. Peters, accompanied the body to this place of burial. The floral offerings were beautiful, the "broken circle," given by the car shop employers, also the flowers given by C.W. Hurt, W.H. Clements, and the Knights of Pythias.
He was interred in the Kilbourne cemetery April 27, at the side of his brother, W.A. Whitlow. He is survived by the families of a sister and brother who reside in Kentucky, two nieces who reside in Colorado and Mrs. Emma Whitlow, a sister-in-law, who resides at Kilbourne.
