SMITH SERVICES.

Birmingham, Aug. 23.-Funeral services for Mrs. Rolland J. Smith were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist Episcopal church in Birmingham, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Fred Skewes. Music was furnished by the Williams brothers quartet and Mrs. Florence Calhoun. The pall bearers were Betty Scott, Helen Radcliffe, Wilda Harness, Lola McLain Lazenby, Beulah Scott Pedrick and Theo Martin Wymore. Floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. Interment was made in the Maple Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, nee Helen Brannan daughter of Alma and Milton Brannan, was born near Birmingham, Iowa, October 17, 1908 and liven in or near there until last December when accompanied by her father she went to Twins Falls, Idaho, for an extended visit with her sister, Miss Ruth Brannan. On April 15 she returned to Cedar Rapids and on that day was married to Rolland J. Smith, where they lived until she was called by death. Her mother preceded her in death five years. One brother, Lee was killed in action in France. Her husband, her father, one sister, Miss Ruth, and one brother, Joe, survive her. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Willing Workers Sunday school class. Over six hundred persons attended the funeral among them being relatives and friends from Keokuk, Muscatine, Cedar Rapids, Ottumwa and Fairfield.
