Floyd L. Moore

Floyd L. Moore, 101, of Nelson Nursing Home, formerly of Eldon, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 193, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Visitation is open at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Nelson Nursing Home Activity Fund.

Moore was born Sept. 18, 1891 southwest of Birmingham, the son of Charles W. and Nancy M. Kisling Moore. He grew up in Van Buren County and attended rural Van Buren County School White No. 5. A resident of Van Buren County until moving to Eldon in 1968, he had farmed near Birmingham and operated a saw mill. He lived in Eldon until March 1990 and had been at Nelson Nursing Home since May 1990. He married Wilda May Oosthoek on March 9, 1916, in Keosauqua. She died Dec. 27, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter, Florence Baker of Libertyville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A son, Fred; two daughters, Jeanette Samuelson, Aileen Matheson; three brothers, Charles L., Tom E., George Moore; and three sisters, Mary Jane Ratcliffe, Alberta Laird and Mabel Huffman, preceded him in death.
